The Menace of the Seas
This piece of propaganda is meant to rally support for the destruction of the Germans for sinking passenger ships during WW2 in the form of buying war bonds. This is achieved by creating a bloody hand with a knife rising out of the water to represent the bloody deaths of the thousands of passengers killed by the Germans. The passenger ship in the distance is trying to flee, which creates the thought that the ships were innocent and simply trying to avoid destruction. This is a effective piece of propaganda because in envokes an emotion in the reader to feel anger against the Germans and sadness for the innocent people that died.
On Which Side of the Window are You?
This piece of propaganda is supposed to entice men to join the armed forces. It does this by using the slogan "On Which Side of the Window are You?". This poster shows a man in a tuxedo on one side of the window, which men in uniform are on the other side. It achieves it purpose because most men would want to be on the side of the window with the army because they dont want to stand by and watch the war happen like the man in the tuxedo. This would make many people realize they are the man in the tuxedo just watching, when they could be out there with the rest of the men in uniform helping fight the war.
You're Next
This piece of propaganda from WW2 is meant to encourage citizens to purchase war bonds. This is said by the image of Uncle Sam rolling up his sleeves with a wrench in hand, looking like he just got out of a fight. It says "Jap... You're Next", this is because during this time people had extreme hatred for the Japanese and it said "You're Next" because the Allis had just finished defeating the Germans. This is very effective because the people were ready to give it the final push to win WW2 and the poster shows that buying bonds was the way to do it.
